About Inad Theater

About Inad Theater:

In 1987, the same year when the First Palestinian Intifada broke out, "known as the Stones' Uprising", The Beit Jala Theater Group was formed as an independent youth group of theater enthusiasts who believed in theater as a revolutionary tool against colonialism, a free space for expression and a powerful tool for spreading awareness and culture in society.

For years, the group worked as an amateur theater group, performing dozens of theater performances, which helped attract new theater artists who collaborated to establish Inad Theater in 1998 as a non-profit, non-governmental organization, officially registered by the Palestinian Ministries of Culture and Interior.

Since 1998, Inad Theater has produced tens of theater plays, which have varied in artistic style and content, and targeted different audiences of all ages through local tours of live performances targeting different cities, villages, and camps in the West Bank. This contributed to achieving a wide local spread and a good reputation for Inad Theater in Palestine. On the international level, Inad has had a lot of international participation in Arab and European festivals and conferences.

Inad Theater believes in the justice of the Palestinian cause and advocates for the Palestinian people with all its social components. Using the tools of theater and drama, we strive to address the issues of our Palestinian people, and our daily struggles, and to raise the level of cultural awareness of the individual and the group.

Vision:

Cultural life is a right for all members of Palestinian society and, as a major component of the collective identity of society, is capable of promoting the principles of belonging and citizenship.

Inad Theater seeks to advance the cultural movement and develop theater art forms to become a strong cultural beacon that will contribute to protecting the Palestinian narrative and raising the level of intellectual and cultural awareness of the Palestinians.

Mission:

Inad Theater provides a creative space to raise and improve the quality of cultural life for all segments of Palestinian society.

Our Values and Beliefs:

  • Excellence & Innovation:

Inad Theater believes in the need to achieve the highest standards of artistic quality in its various productions and programs. By providing a supportive and nurturing environment for artists, we motivate them to cultivate research and creativity and experiment with different theatrical voices and forms capable of delivering Palestinian art beyond geographical boundaries.

  • Entrepreneurship:

Inad Theater, which celebrated its 35th anniversary last year, believes in the importance of continuity and reinforcing its leading role as a valued cultural asset with a professional theater group at the local and regional levels.

  • Artistic Collaboration:

Inad Theater believes in the importance of collaboration between cultural management and artistic production. Inad Theater is keen to create an incubator for all artists including writers, directors, actors, and designers who cooperate to create a contemporary theater of high artistic quality, capable of interacting with audiences and providing them with new aesthetic images.

  • Entertainment

Inad Theater believes that theater and performing arts are a means of entertainment, which is capable of touching the hearts and expanding the minds of audiences spontaneously and directly. For example, theater as an art form has the ability to stimulate children's imagination in a healthy way, unlike being passive when watching TV.

  • Touring & Community Outreach:

Inad Theater believes that theater and other art forms are for everyone, and should not be exclusive to a particular social class. On the contrary, Inad believes that theater is capable of reaching all social sectors and communicating with them to create a constructive state of cultural dialog. Inad believes that art education should be available and accessible to all members of society since it enriches the human experience and intellectual development.

  • Sustainability:

Inad Theater believes in the importance of social business projects. It continues to research projects capable of generating income to secure the NGO's financial stability. Also, Inad is open to collaborating with the private sector to sponsor some of its projects.
